Part Time Unpaid Internship
Duration & Commitment:
Seeker Music & Recording Studios is located at 2433 Birkdale Street, Los Angeles, CA
90031
• The hours are from 11-4PM PT and 2-3 days per week (Total 15-20hrs)
• This will be an unpaid internship, in-person, for school credit over 8-10 weeks
• Preference: 3rd and/or 4th Year Undergraduates
LEGAL INTERNSHIP
This internship offers valuable hands-on experience and networking opportunities in the music industry, specifically geared towards individuals interested in the legal aspects of music publishing. While this position is unpaid, Seeker Music is dedicated to providing a supportive learning environment and mentorship from experienced legal professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Research: Conduct comprehensive legal research on copyright law, contract negotiation, licensing agreements, and other relevant legal topics within the music industry. Gather insights to inform decision-making and ensure compliance with legal standards.
Contract Drafting and Review: Assist in drafting and reviewing various legal documents such as licensing agreements, publishing contracts, artist agreements, and distribution contracts, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with company objectives.
Legal Documentation Management: Assist in organizing and maintaining legal documentation, contracts, and correspondence in both physical and digital formats - ensuring confidentiality and accessibility of important legal records.
Compliance Assistance: Aid in ensuring the company's compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing the music industry. This includes staying updated on legal developments, assisting in regulatory filings, and implementing best practices for legal risk management.
Contract Negotiation Support: Provide assistance during contract negotiations by conducting background research, preparing negotiation strategies, and assisting with communication between parties. Learn to identify and address legal issues to protect the company's interests.
Collaborative Projects: Participate in cross-functional projects with other departments, offering legal guidance and support as needed. Gain insights into the interdepartmental workings of a music publishing company and contribute to overall company objectives.
Ideal Candidate:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a law degree program with a focus on intellectual property, entertainment law, or related field.
- A passion for music and a strong interest in the legal aspects of the music industry.
- Basic understanding of legal principles and contract law.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
