Job Description:

YoungArts is the core program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA), founded in 1981 by businessman and visionary, the late Ted Arison, and his wife Lin. The organization's mission is to identify the next generation of emerging artists in the visual, literary and performing arts, to provide educational enrichment and assistance in their pursuit of the arts, and to raise the appreciation for and support of the arts in American Society. Essential Job Functions:

The Director ensures ongoing programmatic excellence and will design and oversee and help to implement the successful execution of all national programs, including:

Annual program adjudication;
YoungArts Week;
U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts;
Legacy Master Series; and,
Programs related to the organization's national expansion efforts (currently in Miami, New York City and Los Angeles).

The Director has responsibility for all program areas, including recruitment of national panelists, high caliber master teachers and guest artists, resident advisors and discipline coordinators; national registration process; audition and portfolio processing; adjudication; and, program logistics. The Director also will develop new key programs and seek opportunities and venues to showcase YoungArts alumni, master teachers and other resources.

The position is a member of the senior management team that drives the overall strategy for the organization and represents it on a local, regional and national basis. The Director will have deep knowledge of programs, both from an artistic and operational standpoint, and will focus on program leadership and management, developing key external relationships, and developing strategic recommendations for the program. The position will work closely with the Executive Director, and also will work closely with senior staff members and key stakeholders including Board members, national panelists and master teachers/artists, educators and alumni.
